Tabitha Michaelson: the fun loving, sassy girl who loves anything that sparkles. What you might not know is, she took an oath years ago with her brother Seth, vowing to lock their hearts and throw away the key. She has spent years keeping up the happy fa├žade and not letting anyone get close.

It's not until a chance meeting that Tabitha meets her match in Carter Northwood.

Here's a man whose life has been filled with lies, threats, and tangled webs of disaster. Carter knows that if he takes this chance at true love, the world around him will tumble down like a spiral staircase.
Two hearts meld to form a single beat from the start. A test of trust, infinite love, and a longing for each other's passion.
I have to start off by saying that I'm not used to reading Romance novels. At all. I'm the type of person who gets all red-faced and embarrassed reading stuff like this because I tend to have an overactive imagination where I put myself in the character's shoes and witness/see/feel everything they do. I also want to say that though this wasn't an erotica novel, it gave 50 Shades of Grey a run for its money and that's because it was tasteful AND well written. *cough*

Unexpected Chances was a fun read especially since it was my first time out of my usual genre. What got me to read it was the lovely summary considering I had done the same a while back; locking away my heart and not letting anyone truly in. I'm so glad I picked it up.

Tabitha was a great character. I loved her inside and out from her sassy personality to the depth of layers covering everything she was hiding from everyone else along with her "no bullshit" attitude. Then comes Carter. Yeah, I pretty much fell in love with him too. I'm not one for demanding men who always get their way, but he was a pretty solid character and mysterious enough for me to pursue him and get to know him more. I surely wasn't disappointed. Both character's background stories were great, making them solid and believable, which is hard to come by nowadays.

The story itself was great and flowed really well. One reason I tend to stray from books from my usual fantasy genre is the fact that I used to believe Romance novels were slow moving and didn't keep you on your toes. Keyword: used. Once I finished reading the first of the Chances series, I wanted to continue on and began reading Unexpected Changes. That review will be out soon.
